On 23 December, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has ordered all the telecom companies of the country to issue only calling and SMS recharge plan for those customers who do not use data. This amendment in the tariff plan will benefit the customers the most who use only keypad phones or only calling plans.
Who will benefit the most?
After the introduction of this rule, those people will benefit the most who only use calling and SMS. Most of the people in the urban areas of the country use smartphones, so after the introduction of this plan, people activate recharge plans only according to their usage.
After its launch, around 15 crore people in the country will directly benefit from it because these are those consumers who only use calling and SMS.
Whereas in rural areas of India, elderly people use only SMS and calling. At present, no web recharge plan for only SMS and calling has been provided by any company. After this order of TRAI, all the companies which provide telecom services like Jio, Airtel, Vodafone Idea and BSNL have been ordered to provide recharge plans for only calling and SMS to every citizen of India.
When will this recharge plan be released?
After this order of TRAI, all the telecom companies have opposed it. The companies say that activating this plan in the country is against the policy. However, no confirmed date has been given by the companies as to when this recharge plan will be activated.
When was the SMS and calling plan stopped?
By this year 2016 ,All the big companies like Airtel,vodafone, Idea used to provide recharge coupons of 5 to 10 rupees and more to every customer in the market. Through this every person used to get recharge done as per their requirement.
But after this Jio entered the telecom sector from Reliance Industries. Initially Jio offered free data and calling to Indian customers, after which people started purchasing and porting Jio SIMs. Within a short time Jio’s market became the biggest. Due to which small players in the market such as AIRCEL, TATA DOCOMO, TELENOR and other small companies were shut down.
How many people in India use only SMS and calling?
There are still 15 crore users who only use Calling and Sons. Those people are going to benefit more from this.
